When we are discussing the reinterpreted pony cars…
…we can say that Ford has its Mustang, Chevy has its Camaro and Dodge has its Challenger.
Of these three;
The Challenger is most likely most faithful model devoted to the original, all the way down to a choice of two different HEMI V-8 engines.
While the Camaro and the Mustang have confirmed being notably competent on a race track, we have to admit that the super-sized Challenger carries a little too much mass for track-day fun.
But, as opposed to the Camaro and the Mustang, which quickly begin to feel cramped on the open road…
…the big Challenger is an almost perfect touring car for two.
It’s having enough room inside for the driver and front seat passenger, and both of the HEMI V-8 motors are here to soak up highway miles.
Also, passing the slower traffic is a not a problem with V-8 Challengers:
Just press on the accelerator, and forward thrust is built in an impressive manner.
Although the suspension can be on the stiff side (especially the suspension on SRT8 models), the ride quality is never objectionable.
People old enough to remember the first muscle car era will certainly appreciate and enjoy the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket nostalgic looks…
…but also the younger buyers will admire the coupe’s clean lines.
Also the palette of bright colors and available stripe packages are here to call unwanted attention to the car, and it is also available in tastefully subdued hues.
Recalling the original 1970 concept vehicle of the same name, the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket is considered as a limited-edition exercise spun from the baseline Challenger SRT8 model.
This appropriately named super coupe carries an original Stinger Yellow exterior set off with black accent elements.
To sharpen its reflexes, the 2012 Yellow Jacket also benefits from a new SRT-spec adaptive damping suspension.
It is specifically tuned for the Challenger SRT8 392 and can offer a driver-selectable “Auto” and “Sport” modes.
Dodge said that it gives the car the quickest turn-in and most agile handling of any SRT product in the marketplace in 2012.
To boost its fun-to-drive index, the package also comes with features like a three-mode electronic stability control system, lightweight 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped on Goodyear Eagle RSA or optional Goodyear F1 Supercar tires, and big Brembo brakes.
About the interior, the Yellow Jacket comes with a standard leather seats with a contrasting Stinger Yellow trim band, silver accent stitching and embroidered Yellow Jacket logos.
