The all american brand, General Motors revealed on Monday it’s most powerful vehicle in it’s fruitful 112-year history, the 2016 Cadillac CTS V sedan. The rear-wheel drive luxury sports sedan which will have whooping 640 horsepower and 630 fp of torque will debut in summer 2015 comes ahead for the North American International Auto Show that will be staged in Detroit. The Cadillac team will show the shining new generation CTS-V on a press conference there on January 13.
The new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will be mounted with a monster 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 LT4 engine that’s generating even more horsepower than it’s predecessor, 15 percent more to be exact. The mighty 2016 Cadillac CTS V sedan also has a top speed of 200 miles per hour and can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds.
Jim Vurpillat, director of global marketing for Cadillac explains that the best way to describe a vehicle like the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V would be really be as a brand accelerator because of what it represents. All of Cadillac’s engineering and technical capability and design with this new model are as they say basically pushed to the limits and with that it represent the pinnacle of what a Cadillac is through the century.
The CTS-V follows Cadillac’s reveal last month of the 2016 ATS-V at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The brand, which has seen sales fall this year as it works to rejuvenate long term, will debut its CT6 flagship sedan in the spring at the New York International Auto Show. A new SRX crossover is coming, plus several new vehicles are in the works.
Cadillac launched the high performance CTS-V in 2004, its first vehicle in its V-Series, now turning into a sub brand for Cadillac. With the V-Series and the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V the executives from Cadillac really want to draw new, younger and more affluent buyers into the luxury brand and the Millennials are getting in the right age for buying a car that needs to asses all of their wishes.
“These are the most enthusiastic ambassadors for our products. These are the customers that everybody covets. They’re more educated. They have higher incomes. They’re a little younger. They’re influencers. They’re people other folks ask their opinion about cars” said Tony Roma, chief engineer for the CTS and V Series lineup.
Tony Roma also stated that the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is actually two cars in one. They are offering drivers all features they expect in their daily luxury car but also the components of a modern, track-capable performance car. GM’s new CTS-V will have eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters for manual control. And while fuel economy has not been released, we should expect as Roma says that the 2016 CTS-V will have even better gas mileage than the second generation CTS-V.
According to the Cadillac officials the 2016 CTS-V will be the lightest car in the performance sedan segment. This means that all of the improvements will actually boost responsiveness and handling of the car. The CTS-V and all of it’s greatness stands as a proud contender to the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, BMW M5, and all of the Audi RS lineup.
The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V to the long list of features adds up a standard carbon fiber hood, and there is also a carbon fiber vent available. A whole carbon fiber package features a more aggressive looking splitter in the front and spoiler in the rear that serves as a boost in overall aerodynamic performance. The vehicle also features magnetic ride control, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, Brembo brakes and a front curb-view camera to help protect the front splitter and available Recaro seats.
