The completely Mazda’s, new fourth-generation of the model MX-5 Miata hasn’t even arrived in the showrooms yet, but already the Japanese car maker was developing the lineup with a new variant.
That variant is named “Mazda MX-5 Miata Club”, and it is going to make the world debut in a week’s time at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
There still haven’t been revealed any specs for the Mazda MX-5 Miata Club but Mazda claims that the car brings the “most aggressive” version of the latest MX-5.
Mazda also claims that the MX-5 Club harks back to the early compact sports cars that inspired the initial MX-5, still, stays a “thoroughly modern” and “sophisticated” package.
This indicates we might see additional weight reduce from the already lithe standard model.
Maybe we are going to see how it borrows some of the upgrades destined for the MX-5 Cup racing version that will compete in Mazda’s new Global MX-5 Cup one-make series, or however we might see some items taken from the MX-5 accessories concept shown in Chicago last month.
One specific thing we do know is that there is not going to be extra power on hand. Mazda has verified that all models MX-5s in the U.S., which includes the new Mazda MX-5 Miata Club, will stay with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering up 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.
We are going to have all the details soon, as the 2015 New York Auto Show is going to take place on April 1.
