The people at Alpina bridge the gap between a full factory outfit and traditional tuners.
They are currently building around 1,700 cars a year, but you will not be able to find any massive rear wings or garish paint from the company. Instead, the business has been improving how to make BMWs better for the past 50 years and has decided to celebrate along with its most robust road model yet.
For this Edition 50 models, Alpina is creating 50 sedans or wagons and 50 coupes for European customers based upon its BMW Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo and the Bmw Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo, respectively.
But as a real birthday present can be considered the upgraded, twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 under the hood. It produces 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, a bump of 59 hp and 52 lb-ft from the regular versions.
We have some extra grunt coming many thanks to the additions, including an optimized intake, lightweight pistons, water-cooled intercoolers near the turbos and a titanium exhaust. Alpina states these types of celebratory cars can get to 62 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 204 miles per hour.
Further than just the main improvement in power, these special cars are outfitted with the Alpina’s more aggressive, though still understated body kit. Also, they ride on an updated version of the company’s well-known wheels that include added side cuts on the multiple spokes to lower the weight.
These types of exclusive and unique cars are only offered in Alpina’s own shades of green and blue, plus a special color called Edition 50 Sepia from BMW Individual. Also, there are special logos on the seatbacks and center console to additionally promote the models’ limited nature. Celebrating the brand’s birthday in one of these high-speed vehicles will cost 86,850 pounds ($130,000) for buyers in the UK.
