Checking new supercars is great.
Watching surprises from Glickenhaus is great.
But when you can watch both?
That’s when you break the Nurburgring Lap Record.
Apart from the standard makers of supercars that we are accustomed to seeing their cars conquer the race tracks …
…there is a new player in town and you can call it Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG)” or you can call it “SCG003″.
But yet the game is only for fun because the SCG003 supercar pulls can’t do any serious assault on Porsche, Ferrari or any other of the famous automaker of the automotive performance market for that matter.
A lot of our colleagues call it a carbon fiber knockout, but we call it a real beauty, and this fine looking vehicle borrows it’s power from the Honda-based 3.5-liter V6 engine and is enriched with two turbos that all around generate 522 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
This beauty weighs less than 2,645 pounds, and you’re left with a power-to-weight ratio that allows it to play well above its commercial weight class.
there is a racing version of the car, the SCG003C, and it has already competed in а Nurburgring event and the team says that there is more to come.
And they are not stopping with the seamless promotion…
Earlier this month, the company claimed on Instagram that the car completed a run of the ‘Ring in just 6:42.
You know what that means right?
The SCG003C beat the current record holder by, believe it or not, 6 seconds.
And to make things even more interesting the guys from SCG say that this record was made with weight ballasts and restriction on the horsepower.
If the ballasts are removed and the horsepower restriction lifted…
…the automaker is confident to say that the street-legal version SCG003S can easily make 6:30 with street tires.
If you still can’t handle the numbers lets put that into perspective;
If all comes as planned, the car will be full 27 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder and guys we all know that in racing terms, that’s a whole eternity.
Now that’s impressive!
The story doesn’t end there…
Although the figures that SCG are somewhat of a guess in estimation the company later took to Facebook to clarify that before being black-flagged (which means to return to pit command) for apparently being too loud, the street-legal vehicle completed a combined lap of the Nurburgring Grand Prix course and Nordschleife (North Loop) in just under 8:12.
So by now we get it that the guys from P4/5C love to calculate stuff.
So, based on calculations of comparative length and other times, the Guys said that it would take the vehicle around 6:42 to complete the Nordschleife section alone.
What the company did not really specify is the type of the tires being used but for the sake of the information we hope that there’ll be an official, unconstrained lap results very soon.
All of the approximations and calculation aside, the SCG003 is a ridiculously fast car that can zoom past it’s opponents with ease.
We’ll just have to wait and see if it will be faster than the competitors from Koenigsegg and Radical.
