The last time there we spy shots of the super slick road-legal Porsche 911 GT3 RS was in downtown Atlanta and actually nobody regarded it as a secret because the drive was with very little camouflage. Top Speed’s photographers once again managed to take a glimpse of this beauty and we must say it looks gorgeous.
Porsche engineers in Europe tested this beast on the snowy lanes just to see how well the 911 GT3 RS looks on the snow I guess. Although they skipped the drifting part, Top Speed says that the good news about this is that the track-focused sports car is nearly free of camo.
Despite all of the spy shots and leaked info there is still a lot of mystery around the brand-new GT3 RS, mostly about the rear engine. On the other hand, with the official unveiling rumored to take place at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March, more details should surface over the next couple of months.
The car’s exterior is no secret for the public, as a scale model car that surfaced the Interwebz in October 2014 revealed the GT3 RS’ new body shell. It didn’t came as a surprise that the test car Porsche 911 GT3RS has almost the exact features seen on the miniature. This including the vented rear fenders, the louvered front fenders, as well as the updated body kit, and the massive rear wing.
What makes this prototype seem different when compared to the model car is the fact that the massive air intakes sculpted in the front bumper are covered by black tape, making the entire piece look like a snow plow. Not to worry though, these will come off soon and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will regain its aggressive front fascia.
Surprisingly enough we still don’t have any detail about the engine of this massive sports car. if we go with the past reports than we can only speculate that the Porsche 911 2016 RS will get a turbocharged flat-six and the vented rear fenders. But as we move closer to the vehicle’s launch date, it appears as if the turbo scenario has been dropped, with new reports talking about a naturally aspirated unit.
Rumors have it that Porsche is planning to replace the 3.8-liter flat-six on the Porsche 911 2016 with a slightly larger, 4.0-liter engine. A similar one was used in the 997-generation Porsche 911 2016 RS 4.0, when Porsche increased it with more power. If this proves to be the case with the 991 model too, we’re about to get a 520-horsepower porsche 911 gt3 rs, that and the fact that we still don’t know anything about the Porsche 911 GT3RS price.
Everybody is exited about the development of the mighty Porsche 911 GT3RS. There are only three months left until this sports car is revealed on the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This said the Porsche 911 2016 GT3 RS is nearing the deadline when it will be ready to hit the assembly line.
